About Me

I'm Nerys, 26 years old and originally from deepest darkest Carmarthenshire, south-west Wales. I've been living in Milan since November 2008.

So... How did I end up here?

My love affair with Italian started when I was 15 years old, picking up the seemingly random Italian words a Welsh radio DJ used on her show.

At 16 I started studying Italian at evening classes, a plan to get myself into my first-choice university.

At 18 I was accepted to study Italian at the University of Warwick.

And at 22 I graduated from university, and three months later I moved out to Italy.

And I've been in Milan ever since, and I've got no plans to move anywhere any time soon!

I've been fascinated by foreign languages and cultures ever since I can remember, and as strange as it sounds, I can look back to when I was eight or nine years old and realise know that even that young I knew I wouldn't be living in the country I grew up in when I was older. As well as Welsh, English and Italian, I studied French for eight years, and I've been teaching myself German for two. I love travelling, seeing new places and meeting new people. And I love living the bella (and sometimes not quite so...) vita in Italy!
